Day 3: What is a Pilgrim meal?

Along the Camino the Albergues and restaurants offer Pilgrim  meals that they say are "simple foods to help your body and soul  reach Santiago".

To have the true spirit we have eaten several. To give you a visual, here are pictures from tonight's Pilgrim meal at a cafe on the Plaza Major in Astorga. I would say the food is great and not "simple" as advertised.

Starters include seafood paella for me, and ensalada casa for Laurel.

Main course includes cod fish with peppers for me , and meatball verde with potatoes for Laurel.

Dessert is flan with Cafe Con Leche.

Also every meal includes a bottle of wine and bread.

All this for 10 euros each...about $12. At the Columbia in St Augustine a couple would pay  $100 for this meal.

Good thing we're walking 15 miles a day.
