Day 9: Samos to Portomarin on Monday

We left Samos on a beautiful quite morning and hit a traffic jam of people in Sarria.
Sarria is the shortest route on the Camino and many people start there and pub crawl to Santiago. There were many bus groups as well, but we out walked them by mid morning.

We stopped  the night in Portomarin. The city was moved stone by stone including the huge fortess of a church to make way for a huge reservoir. You can still see numbers on the stones.

Almost didn't get a bed tonight. We went to 5-6 places before we found a bed in the basement of a bar. Sounds grim, but it was great with a walkout patio and a view miles up the valley.

We had a great dinner on the Square with a man from Amsterdam and had hot chocolate later with a man from Australia and a women from Ireland.
